Creating a New Journal Entry

Journal entries can be used to record incidents, defects, or documentation on the construction site and to store and edit them in buildagil. New entries can be added to the project by clicking "Create" or via the Menu Navigation link.


Alternatively, journal entries can also be entered in the mobile app using voice input. For more information, see the following article: Recording Journal Entries via Voice Input.



When creating a journal entry, the form can be saved even if not all the details have been filled out. This allows, for example, defects to be recorded and pre-sorted directly on the construction site without any obstacles.



The entries can be viewed later Revised. When the journal is saved, the person listed as the responsible person Notified is recorded.

Editing the Classification & Date/Location

When creating a journal entry, you can enter the title and set the classification as "Documentation," "Defect," or "Incident." You can also set the desired Categories can be set here, which can simplify the subsequent Search & Filter.



The "Date/Location" field automatically records the date the entry was made. However, it can still be edited later. If the "Use GPS Coordinates" feature is enabled, the device's location is automatically used when the entry is made, and the location of the entry will be visible on the map in the journal.

Adding Photos & Videos

In the Photos & Videos section, you can add files from your device or from the project to the journal. With the mobile app, you can also take photos directly here. For more information on the camera’s features, see the following section: Camera in the mobile app. The uploaded images are automatically collected in the Media library, creating a centralized photo documentation of the project’s progress.

Editing the Details

In the details section, you can add a description and attachments from the project or the device. In addition, Plan Sections can be added to the journal here. You can also select the participating company from the project here.



Documents saved as Favorites are displayed immediately when a plan section is added. This eliminates the need to search through the folder structure. This simplifies the process of adding plan sections to journal entries. The feature also allows you to create plan sections offline in the mobile app and add them to a journal entry. Editing Assignments & Planning

In the "Assignment & Planning" section, you can enter a responsible person and the due date. The responsible person is assigned when the journal entry is saved Notified. An External Contact can also be designated as the responsible person. Since external contacts do not have access to buildagil, the person who registers the external contact as responsible acts as a substitute and receives messages regarding the journal entry.



Importing Content from a Previous Journal Entry

Once a journal entry has been created, you can then select, in a new entry, which content from the previous entry should be carried over. This has the advantage that recurring information does not have to be re-entered, making the creation of new journal entries significantly faster and more efficient.

Offline Availability in the Mobile App

Journal entries can be created offline in the mobile app. For this role to be available in a project, the project must first be pinned. The journal entry can then be created. If there is no internet connection when saving, a message will appear stating that the entry could not be saved. You can try saving again as soon as the internet connection is restored. This has the advantage that documentation or defects can be recorded directly on the construction site, even with a poor internet connection. Camera in the Mobile App

In the mobile app, you can choose whether to use the built-in camera or the device's camera to take photos and videos. By default, the built-in camera is enabled, which allows for direct editing and taking multiple photos. For more information, see the following article: Taking Photos in the Mobile App.
