Creating Plan Sections

Benefits of Plan Sections

Plan sections allow you to highlight relevant areas in PDF plans and link directly to Tasks & Topics and Journal entries. For example, when recording a defect or a task, you can create a section in the plan and add annotations or comments. The entry is automatically linked to the plan, making the affected area immediately visible to all involved. This simplifies communication, reduces the need for follow-up questions, and ensures that observations, defects, or tasks are understood in the correct context. Plan sections play the same role as pins or plan markers, enabling precise location on the plan. This role is also available offline in Mobile App if the relevant plan was previously saved as Favorite has been saved beforehand.

Creating Plan Sections

Plan sections can be included in journal entries as well as in any tasks and topics. They can be created directly from a journal entry using the role, or directly from a PDF plan.

Creating a plan section from a journal entry
A plan section can be created directly from a journal entry. To do this, open the desired entry and select the "Plan Section" role from the options in the Details or Description division. You can then open a PDF plan and define the desired division of the plan as a section. This section is automatically inserted into the entry.

Alternatively, you can create plan sections directly from a plan. To do this, open the plan and set a new section.

The section can then be used to create a new task or journal entry, or it can be copied to the clipboard. You can use the mouse to select a rectangular division of the plan section.

After making your selection, an editing window will open where you can edit the clip by adding annotations and comments. For more information on the online editing tools for clippings, see the following article: Editing PDF Documents Online.

If the excerpt is selected, it is copied to the clipboard and can be pasted into any description or comment using "CTRL + V."

Working with Plan Sections

Created plan sections can be opened and edited at any time. Clicking on the section or on its options opens a menu with various actions. For example, you can open the source plan, which takes you directly to the location in the document where the section was created. In addition, the section can be edited, copied, downloaded as an image, or shared as a link. This allows the section to be used flexibly in further project communication.
