Editing Office Documents Locally
System Requirements: System Requirements for Office Programs
Opening Office Documents with a Local Program
In order to open and edit Office documents such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., locally, the programs must be installed on the PC and the appropriate licenses must be available.
The process of opening and editing Office files locally is described using a Word document as an example.
In buildagil, you can use the Edit in Word role to open the document in Word on your computer.
Changes to the document are saved automatically, and multiple users can edit the document at the same time.

After clicking Edit in Word, a window appears.
Here, you can select the option to prevent this window from appearing when you open Office documents.
Click Open in Word.

Troubleshooting Issues When Opening Documents in the Local Program
This may be due to your company's settings. An IT administrator responsible for the settings can resolve this. In the GPO (Microsoft Group Policy Object), under User Configuration -> Policies -> Administrative Templates -> Microsoft Office (Version) -> Miscellaneous, set the "Block Office sign-in" option to "Not Configured."

If you are experiencing this issue, please contact your internal IT department and submit a request for approval of the relevant data formats. If the approval is denied, buildagil Support can, upon request, contact your IT department directly to provide a justification for the approval.
Troubleshooting Login Prompts When Opening Documents
You may encounter a situation where a login prompt appears every time you open Office documents. This issue can be resolved in the same way as described in "Troubleshooting Problems Opening Documents in the Local Program."
Troubleshooting Issues When Saving Office Documents
When opening Office documents, the following message may appear: "Uploading locked items. We were unable to verify that you have the necessary permissions to upload the file." In this case, the document cannot be saved back to buildagil.

This is because you are not signed in to Office with the same Microsoft account you use for buildagil. Sign in to Office with the same account you use for buildagil to resolve the issue.
Troubleshooting Issues When Opening Documents with Office Programs When Using Multiple Accounts
If a user is signed in to Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, etc., with multiple Microsoft accounts at the same time, Microsoft cannot determine which account to use when opening documents. The following message appears: "Unfortunately, DocumentNameXY could not be opened."

Solution:
Sign out of the Microsoft program you're using from the account you don't currently need. This ensures that Microsoft automatically uses only the active account to open the document. For more information on managing multiple Microsoft accounts, see the following article: Managing Multiple Accounts.
Troubleshooting Issues with Opening the Wrong Versions of Office Documents
If an older, locally stored version appears when you open Office documents, this may be due to cached data in the local OneDrive cache. The following message appears: "Update recommended. A new version of this file is available on the server."

Possible solutions:
- You can rename the file so that the Office program loads a new version of it from the server. Otherwise, the older version from the cache will continue to be used.
- Alternatively, the file can be moved to a different folder. This also bypasses the cache and loads the file new
- You can also delete the cache for Office documents in the Office settings under "Save." For Mac, you can check the following options: Delete the Office Cache on a Mac

If these solutions do not help, you can also completely delete the Office cache in Windows.
To do this, press "Windows + R" to open the Run dialog and enter the following path:
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\OfficeFileCache
After that, you can delete all subfolders in the "OfficeFileCache" folder.
Troubleshooting Error Message 7anyj When Opening Office Files
When opening Office files, you may see the following error message: "Something went wrong. [7anyj] An unexpected error occurred." One possible cause is a corrupted or inconsistent Windows M365 identity on the device.

First, we recommend performing a complete reset of your Windows M365 identity.
- Completely sign out of Office & M365
- First, sign out of all Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Then, in Windows Settings under "Accounts," disconnect access to your work or school account
- Delete the Windows Identity Cache
Open File Explorer and delete all contents in the following folders:
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\OneAuth
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\IdentityCache
The folders may be empty afterward.
- Completely clean up login information management
- Open the Control Panel and, under "Credential Manager," delete all entries related to Microsoft, Office, OneAuth, SharePoint, ADAL, and Azure
- Restart
- It is important not to skip the restart
- New sign up—in exactly this order
- Windows first
- Then, in the settings under "Accounts," add your work or school account again
- Restart the Office program, add the account, and only then open the SharePoint file
Option A:
- Disconnect the Entra-ID connection
- In Settings, go to "Accounts" -> Access work or school account -> select the affected account and click "Disconnect"
This button appears only if you have local administrator privileges and the BitLocker key has been backed up.
If the button is missing, proceed to Option B:
- Open CMD as an administrator and run the following command: dsregcmd /status
- Check if AzureAdJoined: YES
- Then run the following command: dsregcmd /leave
Expected behavior: The device exits Entra ID and the user is logged out.
- Then start the device new
- Log back in locally on Windows
- In Settings, go to "Accounts" -> Access your work or school account -> Sign back in to your work account
This will create a new device trust, reinitialize the WAM/AAD broker, and re-link Office and SharePoint.
- Restart the Office program, add the account, and only then open the SharePoint file
Troubleshooting: How to Disable Email Notifications for Office Files
When Office files such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint are edited or commented on online, users may receive an email notification for every change. This is a default setting in OneDrive and SharePoint that notifies users about file activity. These notifications can be turned off in the OneDrive and SharePoint settings.
To do this, open the company OneDrive and adjust the notification settings there. Example link: https://<tenant>-my.sharepoint.com/
Replace with the name of your Microsoft 365 tenant.

In SharePoint, you can access the email notification settings via the following example link. Example link: https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx/emailNotificationSettings
Replace with the name of your Microsoft 365 tenant.
