Overview of Models & BIM

Benefits of the Model Viewer in buildagil

In buildagil, models serve as a central foundation for collaboration on projects. All participants can open, view, and review models directly in the viewer and link them to tasks, views, or comments. The application is specifically designed for model-based coordination, without the need for any additional software. By saving model views, assigning tasks, or creating cross-sections, models can be used effectively to clarify content and efficiently manage workflows. Even large and complex models can be easily filtered, searched, or merged. Additionally, models and BCF/model tasks can be exchanged with external programs or platforms or viewed in virtual reality.

Model Viewer Overview

  1. Opening the model in the local app
  2. Download the model file to the local device
  3. Rename / Changing the Status / Open the file's folder
  4. Additional options (Open folder / View Visibility / Creating a Personal Task / Creating a Task / Creating information / Creating a Conversation / Sending the Model to External Contacts / Viewing the Version History / Copy the link to the model)
  5. Open the model in a separate tab / Minimize the window / Close the window
  6. Showing and Hiding the Object Explorer (Overview of models, floors, etc.)
  7. Opening Model Views
  8. Opening the Floor Plan Navigation
  9. Opening and Viewing BCF/Model Tasks and Journal Entries
  10. Adding Additional Models
  11. Expand/Collapse the Model Structure
  12. Show / Hide Objects
  13. Browsing the Model
  14. Filtering the Model
  15. Changing the Model Structure
  16. Navigation Bar
  17. Navigation Cube (Select the sides or edges to customize the view)

Opening & Editing Models

Opening and Viewing Models
Models can be uploaded directly within documents in buildagil and opened in the model viewer. Various file formats are supported, such as IFC, GLB, or point clouds (E57, LAZ). For more information on opening models, see the following article: Opening Models.

Measuring & Cutting
Various measurement functions are available for analysis, including distance, area, and point measurements. Cuts can be used to highlight specific divisions in the model. For more information on measuring and cutting in the model, see the following article: Measuring and Cutting in the Model.

Navigation in the Model
You can navigate the model using the mouse, keyboard, or the floor plan navigation. For more information on navigation in the model, see the following article: Navigation in the Model.

Model Views
Model views can be saved to capture specific sections or perspectives within the model. A particular advantage: 2D model views can be exported directly as true-to-scale PDF files. This allows relevant content to be quickly documented, printed, or shared with other stakeholders without having to go through a CAD program. For more information on model views, see the following article: Model Views.

BCF - / Model Tasks

From any model view, you can directly create model tasks with a corresponding link to the model. For more information on BCF and model tasks, see the following article: Creating and Viewing BCF and Model Tasks.

Model Combinations

Model Combinations
Multiple submodels can be combined into a model assembly. These can be saved, colored, or edited as needed. For more information on model assemblies, see the following article: Model Assemblies & Editing.

Overlaying Plans and Models
PDF plans can be overlaid directly onto the model. This allows you to add information that is missing from the model or that would be very time-consuming to model. For more information, see the following article: Overlaying Plans and Models.

Filtering & Searching for Models

You can filter and search for models by class, object, or specific properties. For more information on filtering and searching for models, see the following article: Filter & Search Models.

Interfaces & Connections

Models from buildagil can be used with or exchanged for other applications.

Model Design Using CAD
With the Archicad, Revit, and Navisworks apps, you can view project content from buildagil and open model views directly in CAD. For more information on editing models with CAD, see the following articles: Model Editing with Archicad, Model Editing with Revit, Model Editing with Navisworks, Model Editing with Vectorworks.

Model Testing
With the integration of Solibri and buildagil, you can perform clash detection, rule-based reviews, quality control, and more. For more information on evaluating and checking models with Solibri, see the following article: Analyzing and Reviewing Models with Solibri.

Virtual Reality
Using the Vrex interface, models can be viewed with a virtual reality headset. For more information on viewing models in VR with Vrex, see the following article: Viewing Models in VR with Vrex.

Model Exchange with Platforms
With document exchange, the complete model, plan, and document structure from buildagil is displayed directly in Revizto, Trimble Connect, or big. For more information on model exchange with other platforms, see the following articles: Model Exchange with Revizto, Model Exchange with Trimble Connect, Model exchange with big.
