Benefits of the Vectorworks app

With the Vectorworks app, project content such as model tasks from buildagil can be viewed, and the corresponding model views can be opened directly in Vectorworks. The Vectorworks app provides access to buildagil directly within Vectorworks itself. This allows for efficient model adjustments, as there is no need to manually search for the relevant sections. Once the app is installed and added to the menu bar, you can open the Vectorworks app and perform the Registration on buildagil.

Settings

To define the location of a Vectorworks model and enable coordination with other programs, you must set the coordinate origin in the project. These settings can also be accessed via the menu bar. You can choose between "Internal Origin (0,0)" and "User Origin."


In Vectorworks, project coordinate settings are saved for each user. If two projects use different coordinate origins, those settings are overwritten in each case.



Internal origin (0,0):
Uses Vectorworks' internal origin as a reference. BCF coordinates are converted directly to VW coordinates. This option is appropriate if the user origin has not been moved in the project.


User origin:
Takes into account the user origin set in the file. BCF coordinates are first converted to millimeters and then shifted by the user origin offset. This option is required if the user origin has been set to real-world coordinates (e.g., national coordinates).

Editing Models and Model Tasks

Models and CAD files, such as DWG or IFC files, that are saved on buildagil can be opened directly in Vectorworks from the Documents section. For more information, see the following article: Opening Documents in Local Programs. You can then open the Vectorworks app to access all project content on buildagil. For more information on navigation in the Vectorworks app, see the following article: Navigation Apps. Using the "Project" tab, you can open and view all model tasks for the project in a list.



Model views from buildagil can be opened directly in Vectorworks. The corresponding model view is automatically displayed in Vectorworks.


In order for the model view to be displayed in Vectorworks, the model must be open in the 3D View in Vectorworks.



The model from buildagil can be displayed right next to the model in Vectorworks. This also allows you to access all model tasks and associated model views.



With the OneDrive Synchronization, exports of IFC and PDF files can be saved directly to buildagil.
