Benefits of Model Tasks
When creating a task or journal entry with a view, the current model view is automatically saved. This creates a direct link between the location in the model and the task. This location can later be accessed directly through the corresponding model task. Model tasks are saved in BCF format, which enables exchange with other programs such as Solibri or Vrex. For more information on the different problem types, see the following article: Overview of Tasks & Topics.

Creating Model Tasks
To create a model task, you must first open the desired model in the Model Viewer. For more information, see the article: Opening Models. Next, navigate to the desired view within the model that you want to save in the model task. You can then use that view to create a model task or a journal entry directly.

By default, after saving the model task, the capture point is set at the center of the selected view. The view capture points can then be displayed in the model by selecting Task list open in the Model Viewer. Alternatively, the view capture point can also be defined individually.

You can now enter the information for the model task, save it, and assign it. For more information on creating tasks, see the following article: Creating Tasks.

Once a model task with a view has been created, it will then be visible in Version history.

Copying Views
Views of a model can also be easily copied and pasted into the description of Tasks, Topics, Journal Entries and comments.

This opens a window where you can edit the image in the view. For more information on image editing options, see the following article: Editing Images. Once any adjustments have been applied, the view is saved to the clipboard and can be pasted at the desired location using "CTRL + V."

You can use the image options to open the desired view in the model directly.

Exporting Views as PDFs
It is possible to export a view as a PDF. The view is copied to the clipboard and can be pasted into the description or a comment in Tasks & Topics, as well as journal entries.
A true-to-scale PDF export of views enables precise further processing, sketching, and the addition of technical details without having to go through a CAD program, allowing for more efficient work with the model. You can align the view with the cross-section using "Focus," which facilitates precise positioning and ensures optimal display for export. For more information, see the following article: Aligning a View to a Section.

Viewing Model Tasks
Model tasks can be opened and viewed directly in the Model Viewer from the task list. When the list is opened, all model tasks are displayed along with their saved views and the corresponding capture points in the model. When you hover the mouse pointer over a capture point, the details of the corresponding task appear. This makes navigation easier and links tasks directly to the model.

Clicking on the recording point allows you to select the following roles:
- Display (pans to the saved camera position)
- Open Model View (opens the saved model view)
- Open Task (opens the task details)
- Show task in list (selects the task and scrolls to the corresponding position in the list)

The task list displays all model views for each task, including the views from the comments column. From here, you can open the model view itself, display it directly in the model, or view the task details.

Model tasks are also displayed in the task list in buildagil and are marked accordingly.

You can use the filter in the task list to search specifically for model tasks. For more information on filtering, see the following article: Search & Filter.

Importing and Exporting Model Tasks
Manually importing and exporting model tasks via BCF files is subject to several restrictions and is therefore not possible for the following reasons:
• Redundancy of tasks
• No synchrony (a task may be completed in one location but not in another)
• Communication is not consistent
• No model reference without model synchronization
For this reason, we recommend using the existing interfaces. Using the plug-ins, model tasks are synchronized directly with the respective authoring software, where they can be edited. For more information, see the following article: Overview of Models & BIM.
Alternatively, model tasks can be synchronized with Solibri and then exported from Solibri as a BCF file. For more information, see the following article: Analyzing and Reviewing Models with Solibri.
