Model Editing with Revit

The process for downloading and installing the Revit app is described in the following article: Installing the Revit app.

Benefits of the Revit app

With the Revit app, project content such as model tasks from buildagil can be viewed, and associated model views can be opened directly in Revit. The Revit app allows you to access buildagil directly within Revit itself. This makes it possible to make model adjustments efficiently, since you don’t have to search for the relevant sections manually. Once the app is installed, you can open the Revit app via the "Add-Ins" tab and make the Registration on buildagil.

Settings

To define the location of a Revit model and enable coordination with other programs, the survey point must be set in the project. The settings can also be accessed via the "Add-Ins" tab. You can choose between "Project Base Point" and "Survey Point."

In Revit, project coordinate settings are saved per user. If different survey points are used in two projects, these settings are overwritten in each case.

Project Base Point:
Fixed origin (0,0,0) of the coordinate system in the Revit project. This remains unchanged throughout the entire project.

Survey Point:
A reference point for determining the exact location and elevation of the model in the real world. Important for interoperability with other programs that also use a global reference point.

Editing Models and Model Tasks

Models and CAD files—such as RTE, RVT, RFA, and RFT files—saved on buildagil can be opened directly in Revit from the Documents section. For more information, see the following article: Opening Documents in Local Programs. You can then open the Revit app to access all project content on buildagil. For more information on navigation in the Revit app, see the following article: Navigation Apps. Using the "Project" tab, you can open and view all model tasks for the project in a list.

Model views from buildagil can be opened directly in Revit. The corresponding model view is automatically displayed in Revit.

In order for the model view to be displayed in Revit, the model must be open in the 3D view in Revit.

The model from buildagil can be displayed right next to the model in Revit. This also allows you to access all model tasks and associated model views.

With the OneDrive Synchronization, IFC and PDF files can be exported and saved directly to buildagil.

Troubleshooting When Viewpoint Cannot Be Opened in Revit

If the error message "Failed to open viewpoint" appears when opening a model task via the buildagil add-in, the view in Revit may need to be adjusted. In this case, make sure that a 3D view is selected.
