Model Views

Creating Model Views

Model views allow you to quickly return to defined perspectives and make it easier to navigate the model. Model views can be saved. When a view is saved, sections, markings, objects that are shown or hidden, and color schemes are included in the view. When the view is reopened, the model returns to the saved perspective. To save views, a model assembly must be created. For more information, see the following article: Model Assemblies & Editing.

In the "Views" menu, you can open existing views or create new ones. By default, the perspective currently displayed in the viewer is used when creating a new view. Using the options, you can copy a Generate a QR code or a link to the view. Views can also be new, renamed, moved to a group, or removed from the list. A view can also be displayed while retaining the current perspective. This allows you to switch between different views without changing the current perspective.

Using the options, you can also create a new view and maintain the original perspective.

Grouping Model Views

If you have a large number of saved views, you can organize them into groups. This allows you to group views by topic and keep them well-organized.

Groups can be created, renamed, and removed from the Views menu.

Views can be assigned to a group via drag-and-drop or by using the "Move to Group" option. To remove a view from a group, you can use the same option to assign it to the "No Group" category. A view group can also be assigned to another group.

If a group is removed, all views it contains are also deleted. A warning dialog appears before removal. Changes are not applied until the model assembly is saved. If the Viewer is closed without saving, all views are retained. Views can be restored via the Version history of the model assembly.

Aligning a View to a Section

Aligning a view to a cross-section allows for a precise representation of the model, especially in the 2d view. For example, this enables the model to be displayed to scale in the 2d view. Alignment is performed using the "Focus" command or by double-clicking the cross-section.

You can also copy the views and export them as PDF files. For more information, see the following article: Creating and Viewing BCF and Model Tasks.

Troubleshooting

When loading a saved view, hidden objects may reappear. This behavior occurs if an active filter was set when the view was saved. As soon as a filter is applied, objects that were manually hidden are restored. If you want to hide specific objects or groups of objects, you can add these settings to the filter and then save them as a view. For more information about filters in models, see the following article: Filter & Search Models.
