Create & display BCF / model tasks

Advantages of model tasks

When creating a task or journal entry with a view, the current model view is automatically saved. This can be called up later directly via the respective model task. Model tasks are saved in BCF format, which allows them to be exchanged with other programs such as Solibri or Vrex. Further information on the different task types can be found in the following article: Overview of tasks & topics.

Creating model tasks

To create a model task, the desired model must first be opened in the model viewer. You can find more information on this in the article: Opening models. You can then navigate in the model to the desired view that is to be saved in the model task. A model task or journal entry can then be created directly with the view.

By default, the recording point is set in the middle of the selected view after saving the model task. The recording points of the views can then be displayed in the model by opening the task list in the model viewer. Alternatively, the recording point of the view can also be defined individually.

The information on the model task can now be entered and the task can be saved and assigned. You can find more information on creating tasks in the following article: Create tasks.

As soon as a model task with a view has been created, this can then be seen in Version history.

Copying views

Views of a model can also simply be copied and pasted into the description of Tasks, topics, journal entries and comments.

This opens a window in which the image of the view can be edited. You can find more information on the image editing options in the following article: Editing images. As soon as any adjustments have been applied, the view is saved to the clipboard and can be pasted at the desired location using "CTRL + V".

The desired view can be opened directly in the model via the image options.

Exporting views as PDF

It is possible to export a view as a PDF. The view is copied to the clipboard and can be pasted into Tasks & topics and journal entries in the description or in a comment.

A true-to-scale export is only possible for 2D views.

A true-to-scale PDF export of views enables precise further processing, sketching and additional technical details without having to go through a CAD program, allowing you to work more efficiently with the model. The view can be aligned to the cut surface with "Focus", which facilitates precise positioning and enables an optimal display for export. Further information can be found in the following article: Aligning a view to the cut.

Display model tasks

The model tasks can be opened and displayed directly in the model viewer in the task list. When the list is opened, all model tasks are displayed with their saved views and the respective recording point in the model. If the mouse pointer is moved over a recording point, the details of the respective task appear. This makes navigation easier and links tasks directly to the model.

The following roles can be selected by clicking on the recording point:

  • Display (pans to the saved camera position)
  • Open model view (opens the saved model view)
  • Open task (opens the task details)
  • Show task in list (selects the task and scrolls to the corresponding position in the list)

All model views of the respective tasks are displayed in the task list, including the views from the comment column. The model view itself can be opened here, displayed directly in the model or the task details can be called up.

Model tasks are also displayed in the task list in buildagil and are labeled accordingly.

The filter in the task list can be used to filter for specific model tasks. You can find more information on filtering in the following article: Search & filter.
