Exporting Tasks & Topics as an Excel File

Exporting Tasks & Topics

The complete list of all tasks and topics in a project can be exported and further processed in Excel. This allows you to create custom reports based on the current data. The task list is continuously synchronized, which prevents different or outdated versions from circulating. The export option is available for the tasks within the project. All tasks, information, decisions, and topics to which the user Right of Inspection has access are always exported. The list can then be filtered and analyzed in Excel.

The Excel export feature is not available on macOS.

When you export, an ".iqy" file is downloaded. This file establishes a direct link to the tasks and topics in buildagil.

When the file is opened, it opens automatically in Excel. All tasks, information, decisions, and topics are now displayed here with their current status. If a change is made in buildagil, it is updated in the Excel file.

Troubleshooting

If the troubleshooting steps below do not resolve the issue, please feel free to contact Support.

You may encounter the error message "An unexpected error has occurred. Changes to your data cannot be saved" when opening the ".iqy" file, causing the document list export to fail:

If this error occurs, check which Microsoft account was used to sign in to Excel. Synchronization can only work properly if the user’s Microsoft account in buildagil matches the one used in the Excel application. If the accounts do not match, synchronization will be prevented.
