Create scheduling with MS Project

The buildagil team will provide you with an MS Project template plan or enter your existing plan into buildagil.

Advantage:** If you move the date of an appointment (milestone) in the MS-Project plan, all linked pending items are also moved/adjusted in buildagil.

The synchronization from MS-Project scheduling to buildagil when adjusting milestones takes max. 2 minutes.

Important points to note when working with a linked scheduling system.
Synchronization between MS Project and buildagil takes place automatically when the file is saved. It is better to save too much than too little.
If a synchronization conflict is reported by MS Project, always select "Keep project version":

Tasks should not be moved in the hierarchy using copy-paste, as otherwise the reference to the task on buildagil may be lost. Always move using the crosshairs.
The scheduling in MS Project can only be edited by project administrators and project coordinators. Further information on authorizations can be found at: Authorizations

Edit scheduling

In the menu, under the desired project, go to Planning, select Scheduling and click Open in Project.

The following message appears, which can be confirmed with Yes, after which MS-Project opens with the plan.

In order for the process to be visible in the timeline and also in the scheduling of buildagil, the process must be selected with the right mouse button and Add to timeline clicked.

The process for milestones is the same as described in point 1. Select Use as target date in the column on the right and click Yes. The milestone can then be synchronized with buildagil.

The milestones appear in the task planning timeline. Tasks can now be planned for the milestones.

Open the milestone to view the status and properties.

Click on the status to see the tasks scheduled on it.

Manual planning with milestones

Milestones can also be created manually if no scheduling with MS Projects is available.
To do this, you can select + New and then Milestone under task planning.

Give the milestone a title and define a due date and click Save.

Tasks can now be planned for this target date/milestone. To do this, go to the desired pending task and select the milestone as the target date under Planning instead of Due date ->.

Scheduling multiple timelines

To display several timelines (detailed views) in buildagil, proceed as follows.

In Projects, navigate to Views / Timelines and click More views.

Then click on New.

Select Single view and click OK.

Then enter the name and select Timeline under Screen:.
Click on OK.

Any processes and milestones can now be assigned to the timeline.

To display the other timelines on buildagil, you can contact support (via chat). We will set up the display of the timelines for you.

Scheduling with macOS

Opening a scheduling with MS Project on a macOS device is not possible as MS Project is not available for macOS. However, there are some alternative methods to use Projects on a Mac.

One option is to use a virtual machine on a Microsoft server. A Windows environment can be set up on a virtual machine to enable access to MS Project.

Another option is to use Parallels Desktop for Mac. This software makes it possible to run a Windows environment directly on the Mac so that MS Project can be run as if on a Windows PC. Further information and the download option can be found on the Parallels website: Parallels for Windows on Mac.
