Exporting journal entries as Excel

Export of journal entries

It is possible to export a complete list of all journal entries for a project and process them in Excel. This allows individual evaluations to be created based on the current data. The journal entries are continuously synchronized, which prevents different or outdated versions from being in circulation. The export option is available for selection in the journal entries in the project. All journal entries to which the person has Visual right are always exported. The list can then be filtered and analyzed in Excel.

The Excel export is not available on macOS.

A ".iqy" file is downloaded during the export. This establishes a direct connection to the journal entries in buildagil.

When the file is opened, it opens automatically in Excel. All journal entries with the live status are now displayed here. If a change is made in buildagil, this is updated in the Excel file.

Troubleshooting

If the following troubleshooting does not lead to success, you are welcome to contact support.

It may happen that the error message "An unexpected error has occurred. Changes to your data cannot be saved." appears when opening the ".iqy" file, causing the export of the document list to fail:

If this error occurs, you should check which Microsoft account was used to log in to Excel. Error-free synchronization can only take place if the Microsoft account of the user in buildagil matches that of the Excel application. Synchronization is prevented if the accounts are different.
