Evaluate & check models with Solibri

Advantages of Solibri integration

The integration of Solibri and buildagil offers numerous advantages as it combines the powerful roles of Solibri such as collision checking, rule-based review, quality control, classification and data evaluation with the efficient project coordination of buildagil. Solibri also offers the possibility to create BCF / model tasks. Through the integration, IFC models and BCF / model tasks can be seamlessly synchronized between Solibri and buildagil. This allows users of buildagil to benefit from Solibri's extensive control and evaluation functions to improve the quality of their models and minimize errors.

Requirements for establishing the connection

  • Solibri Site, Office or Enterprise license
  • buildagil account and access to the desired project

Exchanging models

Models that are saved in buildagil can be seamlessly synchronized with Solibri and further processed there. The connection is established via the Document API.

After selecting buildagil as the server, the connection is activated.

To open models from buildagil in Solibri, the connected server can be opened.

The connected project can then be selected via the browser. If necessary, login data for buildagil must be entered.

The desired models can then be selected.

The models displayed in Solibri are copies of the models in buildagil. The next section explains how new model versions can be automatically transferred to Solibri.

Updating models

If a new version of a model is saved in buildagil, it can be automatically transferred to Solibri. The type of update can be defined in the file settings:

  1. Automatically: As soon as a new version of the model is saved on buildagil, the model is automatically transferred to Solibri.
  2. Confirm: As soon as a new version of the model is saved on buildagil, a message appears. The model will not be updated until the message has been confirmed.

It can take up to 5 minutes for new versions to be recognized and updated.

Confirm message:

If the "Confirm" method was selected, a message appears in Solibri at the bottom right. Click on the message to load the new version of the model.

Synchronizing BCF / model tasks

BCF / model tasks can be synchronized between buildagil and Solibri. To subsequently execute rules or collision checks in Solibri, a model must be open. This can be loaded directly via Connection with buildagil. Alternatively, models can also be downloaded and opened manually. However, no changes from buildagil will be applied.

After activating the "BCF Live Connector", a project can be selected. The server can be added and edited first.

Here you can enter any name from the server list buildagil and the URL https://api.buildagil.com (is normally added automatically). Subsequently, the Registration is carried out via Microsoft.

Before synchronization, the selection of model tasks can be narrowed down using filters.

These filter settings can be saved if required.

After selecting the project, synchronization is started.

By default, the first 100 model tasks are loaded from buildagil.

After a successful connection, the model tasks are displayed in the "BCF Live View".

Finally, it must be determined which model in Solibri corresponds to which model in buildagil. This is done using the "File synchronization" role in the BCF Live view. This ensures that tasks are assigned correctly and model sections are located correctly.

Save model combinations & settings

It is advisable to save model combinations and settings. In this way, all reviews and settings made in Solibri are retained. To do this, the model compilation can be saved under "File" using the "Save model as" role.

This allows the storage location to be selected. If the storage location is synchronized with OneDrive, the file can be stored directly in buildagil. It is then accessible to all project participants with the appropriate viewing rights to the storage location and can be opened directly in Solibri via "Open in app". Further information on opening documents with local programs can be found in the following article: Open folders & documents in local program.

Display model tasks

When a model task is selected in the "BCF Live View", all information about this model task appears under "Live Problem Details". This information is always synchronized directly with buildagil and can be adjusted.

1st title

  1. Description
  2. Status (draft, open, completed)
  3. Due date
  4. Responsible person
  5. Categories from buildagil
  6. Image of the model section

Comments on the task are also displayed. New comments can be added directly.

Creating model tasks

A new model task can be created in Solibri using the "New problem" role. The current model view is saved as a model section.

The title can be assigned in the next step. The task is then automatically synchronized with buildagil. Additional information can be added both in buildagil and in Solibri. Further information on creating problems / model tasks in Solibri can be found in the Solibri Help Center: Solibri Help Center.

Compare model versions

With Solibri it is possible to compare two versions of a model and make changes. To do this, the current model from buildagil is first opened in Solibri. You can find out how to open models from buildagil in Solibri in the following section: Exchanging models. To compare the new model with an older version, the version history of the desired model can be opened in buildagil.

An older version can then be selected and downloaded via the Version history in buildagil.

In Solibri, the model can now be added under "File". Both versions are now available and can be checked for differences using the Solibri rules. For more information on creating rules in Solibri , see the Solibri Help Center: Solibri Help Center.
