Drag & Drop
Drag the file / folder from your storage location to the desired directory in buildagil with a mouse click.

Upload via the tab
Select between "File" or "Folder" for the documents in the desired folder.

Select and open the file or folder in the local directory.

Synchronize with OneDrive
It is possible to synchronize the document library locally on your computer using Microsoft OneDrive. Further information on OneDrive synchronization can be found in the following article: Synchronization OneDrive.
Troubleshooting during upload
If the error message appears when uploading files and folders that the file path or file name is too long, the file is currently locked or there is a connection problem, this can have various causes. The message can also appear if the path from which the file originates is too long.

When uploading files, Microsoft imposes a character limit. If the path (number of characters of the file title + the name of all folders) from which the file originates (e.g. From a local file storage) or the target path in buildagil is longer than 260 characters, the file cannot be uploaded.
In this case, the following solutions can help.
- Load and move the file to the top level of the folder structure (versioning is not guaranteed this way)
- Move the file to be replaced to a higher folder structure, then overwrite it with the new file and then move it back again
- Upload file from desktop
- Make folder structures flatter (less deep folders and less long names)
The extended folder name can be activated in the project settings so that the length of the folder names can be optimized. It is also recommended to add categories to the documents so that they can be found more easily using the search and the filter.
You can find detailed information on the extended folder designation in the following article: Extended folder designation.
Detailed information on the categories can be found in the following article: Categories.
Troubleshooting for automatically shortened file names when saving
If a file is saved as a copy or in another file format (e.g. PDF) via an app (such as Excel, Word, etc.) with "Save as", the file names may be shortened automatically. This happens if the entire path, i.e. The storage location including the file name, is longer than 260 characters. This limitation is a system-related restriction imposed by Microsoft.
Behavior
If the maximum path length of 260 characters is exceeded, the file cannot be saved as expected. Instead, the following may happen:
- The file is saved in a folder further up in the structure that is still within the 260-character limit
- The file name is shortened so that it complies with the character limit together with the path
Solutions
- First save the file in a folder that is less deep in the folder structure. The file can then be moved to the desired storage location
- Check whether the folder structure can be simplified to shorten the path
- Use shorter file names
File name is truncated, file name is automatically shortened
