Exporting Contacts as an Excel File

Exporting Contacts

You can export a complete list of all contacts for a project and process it further in Excel. This allows you to efficiently execute analyses, apply filters, or perform data comparisons. The contact list is continuously synchronized, which prevents different or outdated versions from circulating.
The export option is available for the contacts in the project. All contacts to which the user Viewing Rights has access are always exported. The list can then be filtered and analyzed in Excel.

The Excel export feature is not available on macOS.

When you export, an ".iqy" file is downloaded. This file establishes a direct connection to the documents in buildagil.

When the file is opened, it opens automatically in Excel. All contacts with the "Live" status are now displayed here. If a change is made in buildagil, it is updated in the Excel file.

Troubleshooting

If the troubleshooting steps below do not resolve the issue, please feel free to contact Support.

You may encounter the error message "An unexpected error has occurred. Changes to your data cannot be saved" when opening the ".iqy" file, causing the document list export to fail:

If this error occurs, check which Microsoft account was used to sign in to Excel. Synchronization can only work properly if the user’s Microsoft account in buildagil matches the one used in the Excel application. If the accounts do not match, synchronization will be prevented.
