Data analysis with Power Query

Data query and evaluation of files with Power Query

Data from various sources can be integrated and analyzed in Excel or Power BI using Power Query. Typically, these are file formats such as CSV, XLS, PDF or IFC, which are saved in buildagil. These and other supported formats can be linked and analyzed directly without having to save them locally. The following instructions show an example of how files saved in buildagil can be integrated into Microsoft Excel using Power Query.

The buildagil Power BI Connector is available for the structured evaluation of entire projects and tasks via the API: Project evaluation with Power BI.

First, the link to the desired file is copied.

In Excel, the link is inserted via the "From the web" role.

The URL must be adapted by removing the ending up to the file name and replacing "app.buildagil" with "buildagil.sharepoint".

After inserting the link in the dialog box, you will be asked to log in with your buildagil account.

The desired elements can now be selected in the preview and imported into Excel via "Close & load".

Evaluation of IFC files in Power BI

To analyze IFC files in Power BI, a parser is required that provides the IFC structure in tabular form. Only then can PowerQuery process the data. The following tool offers a possible solution: Power BI IFC Viewer. This allows IFC files that are saved in buildagil to be evaluated directly.
