# Linking Folders & Documents

* [Copying Links from Documents](#3-copying-links-from-documents)
* [Linking Documents and Folders in Element Descriptions and Comments](#3-linking-documents-folders-in-element-descriptions-comments)

| Please note: Links always refer to the original document. Changes made to the linked document will also overwrite the original.

### Copying Links from Documents
A document can be referenced in other elements using a copied link, without having to upload the file again. The link always points to the current version of the original document in the document repository.

* [Single Selection](#3-single-selection)
* [Multiple Selection](#3-multiple-selection)

### Single Selection
With single selection, the link to a single document is copied via the context menu. To do this, right-click the desired object and select the "Copy Link" option.

### Multiple Selection
With multiple selection, you can copy links to several documents at once. To do this, select the desired objects and choose the "Copy Link" option from the menu.

The copied link can then be pasted using the keyboard shortcut `Ctrl + V` or by right-clicking and selecting the "Paste" option.

### Linking Documents & Folders in Element Descriptions & Comments
Documents can be linked directly in the description or in the [Comment](/en/article/working-with-comments-1ms0315/) of an entry. This makes it easier to access relevant documents in the respective context without having to search for them separately in the document repository. This role is available in [Tasks & Topics](/en/article/linking-folders-documents-t1mik7/), in [Journal](/en/article/linking-folders-documents-t1mik7/), in the interactive protocol for pending items from [Meetings](/en/article/linking-folders-documents-t1mik7/) and in the protocol of [Controls & Inspections](/en/article/linking-folders-documents-t1mik7/).

In the description, you can open the document library via the attachments. This allows you to select and add the desired document or folder.

In the comment field, you can also create links using the attachments.
