### Media Library at a Glance
The media library serves as a central location where all images from various divisions of a project are collected and displayed in a consistent manner. Unlike the document repository, the media library contains only images. This provides a centralized overview of all images without having to search through the respective folder structure. In addition, a preview is displayed for each image, allowing the content to be recognized at a glance without having to open each image individually.

| Images from [Controls & Inspections](/en/article/creating-controls-inspections-tlf1un/) are not saved to the media library. The reason lies in their different purposes: Images in “Controls & Inspections” document only the respective inspection process, while images in “Journal Entries” document the entire project timeline. For this reason, only journal images are consolidated in the media library.

The media library supports a wide variety of image and video formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC/HEIF, and MP4.

Images in the media library can be sorted by capture date, classification, or modification date. You can also search for and filter images. For more information, see the following article: [Search & Filter](/en/article/search-filter-1e1hb5/).

If location data was saved when the photo was taken, the location where the photos were taken will be displayed on the map.

### Uploading Images
Depending on their intended use, images can be uploaded to buildagil in various ways.

| The information that is saved for an image—and can therefore be displayed in buildagil—depends, among other things, on the device used to capture the image and how the images are uploaded. If images taken with a mobile device are uploaded via a computer, some information may be lost. It is therefore recommended to upload images directly from the device used to capture them whenever possible.

### Go to the media library
Images can be uploaded to the media library from a local device using the "Upload" button or via drag-and-drop.

### About a Journal Entry
Images uploaded via a journal entry are automatically added to the media library. To ensure that the location and weather data for the image are saved, the location feature must be turned on and the time the photo was taken must be recorded. If the image was uploaded to the media library via a journal entry, the corresponding journal entry can be opened via the link. For more information about journal entries, see the following article: [Creating Journal Entries](/en/article/creating-journal-entries-1ril5ml/).

### Into a folder
Images can also be uploaded to [Folder](/en/article/uploading-folders-documents-all435/) using the "Upload" button or via drag-and-drop from your local device. In the documents, the list view can also be switched to the preview.

### Editing Image Information
Various options are available via an image's three-dot menu. You can open the image, open it in the [The accompanying standard app](/en/article/opening-folders-documents-in-a-local-program-19y5m5g/), download it, or copy the link to the image. In addition, you can directly create a [Personal task](/en/article/personal-tasks-begnx8/) and a [Task or Topic](/en/article/overview-of-tasks-topics-mthdcc/) can be created directly. The image can also be [Sent externally](/en/article/sending-documents-to-external-contacts-1kbwrau/) and saved via [Favorites](/en/article/favorites-ui9bkh/) for quick access. The [Version history](/en/article/document-version-history-1iuorzz/) displays previous versions of the image, for example, after online editing with annotations or text. An image can also be deleted, in which case it ends up in the [Recycle bin](/en/article/recycle-bin-1mekpz2/).

When the image is opened, you can rename it and add a description via its Properties. The description will then be displayed both on the image itself and in [Corresponding journal entry](/en/article/editing-journal-entries-azpo2c/).
