# Comparing PDF Documents

| Depending on the PDF program, either all changes or only specific changes (e.g., to text, images, and annotations) can be detected and displayed.

### Opening Two Versions of PDF Documents

|| To perform the comparison, you must set up the connection from buildagil to the appropriate PDF program. You can find instructions here: [Connect Local PDF Programs](/en/article/editing-pdf-documents-with-local-programs-1hn87mt/).

To compare two PDF documents, you must first open both documents in the appropriate program. To do this, navigate to the desired PDF document and then click **Edit in PDF app**.

The document will then open in the appropriate PDF program. For more information on editing in PDF programs, see the following articles:

After that, you can open a second document or an older version of the document. To open an older version of the same document, click **Details & version history** on the document.

Then open the desired version using **Open Version**.

To open the file in your PDF reader, click **Open in PDF app**.

Both PDF documents should now be open in the appropriate program.
