# Change History

### Overview of Revision History
The change history allows you to track changes made to an element at any time—for example, if you need to determine who changed the visibility settings or if you need to restore a previous version of the description. In the revision history, each entry corresponds to a change made to a field. The history begins with the entry for the element’s creation and then lists all subsequent changes. The functionality is the same for all elements; the only difference is the fields that appear in the history. The revision history is not available for documents. Changes to documents are tracked via the [Version history](/en/article/document-version-history-1iuorzz/).

### Viewing the Change History
The change history is accessed directly within the open element, allowing you to view changes in their respective context. To do this, open the element and select the advanced option "Show Change History."

Each entry in the history includes the profile of the person who made the change, the field affected, and the date and time of the change. The details of each change are included in the expandable entry.

### Expand / Collapse Entries
To track changes in a targeted manner, entries in the change history can be expanded or collapsed individually, as a group, or by field. A single entry can be expanded or collapsed by clicking on it. Using the controls in the upper-right corner, all entries can also be expanded or collapsed simultaneously. Alternatively, you can select a field, such as “Description” or “Visibility.” In this case, all entries where this field has been changed will be expanded. Which fields are available for selection depends on the specific element and whether that field has been edited for that element.

| When entries are expanded, you can activate the browser's search function by pressing `Ctrl` + `F` twice. This allows you to find specific details, such as individual terms, throughout your entire history.
